The ornamental cherry tree in the garden, seen from my studio window for three consecutive days of autumn.

I love the ox-eye daisies that grow wild in my garden and paint them every springtime, weather permitting.

The strong light at Djibouti pushed me to change my palette. Subsequently I’ve built on the new techniques I developed there whilst working in the field to evoke these trees.

I found these wild daffodils on the coast at St Vaast whilst looking for a spot from which to paint Tatihou island.

I painted this one whilst in the first lockdown, making the most of the wonderful spring weather to work in the garden.

Thanks to the workshops and exhibitions held at the Pigeonnier http://www.stagesdupigeonnier.com/stages.html in the village of Plieux, the beautiful countryside of the Lomagne area of the Gers in France is the focal point for many of my landscapes.

When a small child I went to York once and have never forgotten the steep road leading up to the cathedral. York is nothing like my painting but strangely it reminds me of my visit there. The boat in the background is the schooner Etoile.

The Liquid gas carriers being repaired at Brest in France have never ceased to fascinate me by their extraordinary colour and size since I discovered the dry docks there in 1996.
