This piece was created after a trip to Wallis, a French Polynesian atoll/island with a king, on board the ship Jacques Cartier. I chose to depict a child as I spent a lot of time surrounded by children whilst painting there. The original of the bronze is made of three types of clay. The head is made of porcelain, a choice symbolising the potential fragility of relationships between the native people, their king and mainland France.
